Waterproofing of walls using water-repellent render

RELATED MATERIALS
MARMOCRET‑BOND – mortar for bonding spatterdash of render
MARMOCRET‑BASE – base layer render
MARMOCRET‑PLUS Fine – polymer‑modified, colored, water‑repellent cement‑based render (smooth finish)
MARMOCRET‑PLUS Decor – polymer‑modified, colored, water‑repellent cement‑based render (rough‑textured finish)
PL‑PRIMER – plaster primer and dehydration barrier

I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Due to rain, moisture problems at external walls are a usual phenomenon. Moisture can be confronted easily and effectively from the beginning, during the application of render.

II. SOLUTION
High water‑repellent polymer‑modified renders such as MARMOCRET‑PLUS Fine or MARMOCRET‑PLUS Decor offer an affordable and aesthetically pleasing solution. Choose Fine or Decor depending on whether a smooth or rough finish is desired. These renders provide high water repellence and an aesthetically pleasant effect.

III. APPLICATION
Spatterdash: Prepare the substrate by cleaning and dampening. Apply a traditional spatterdash or use MARMOCRET‑BOND (25 kg mixed with 4.75 L of water). Consumption: approx. 5 kg/m².
Rendering (brown coat): After the spatterdash has dried, apply the base coat to even out the surface using traditional render or MARMOCRET‑BASE (25 kg with 4.75 L of water). Consumption: approx. 13.5 kg/m²/cm of thickness. Reinforce thermo‑insulating substrates with fiberglass mesh to prevent cracking.
Before the final render: Damp the render or prime with PL‑PRIMER to reduce absorptivity. Consumption: 40‑100 g/m².
Application of MARMOCRET‑PLUS Fine or Decor: Add 25 kg of MARMOCRET‑PLUS Fine or Decor into 5.0–5.5 L of clean water and mix until workable. Apply with a float, trowel, or plastering machine. Consumption: approx. 1.4 kg/m²/mm; recommended thickness 2‑3 mm for Fine and 2.5–3.5 mm for Decor. After partial setting, rub with a sponge float (Fine) or a plastic/wooden float (Decor) until the desired texture is achieved.

IV. REMARKS
– During application, temperature should be at least +5 °C.
– During summer, dampen the render after application to prevent dehydration.
– These products contain cement and react with water forming alkaline solutions; follow safety instructions.
