I. NATURE OF THE PROBLEM – REQUIREMENTS
Building facades must look attractive and withstand rain, sun and temperature changes. Poor quality paints and surface cracks let moisture penetrate, leading to damp walls, peeling and stains. A suitable coating must waterproof the surface, remain elastic to bridge cracks, allow water vapour to escape, adhere strongly to the substrate, resist ultraviolet radiation and pollution, and provide a washable, decorative finish.
II. SOLUTION
ISOMAT-ACRYL is a 100% acrylic paint for exterior and interior use. It offers excellent covering power, water resistance and vapour permeability. The coating is highly elastic and weather resistant, bridges hairline cracks and provides strong adhesion to concrete, render, brick and other substrates. It gives a smooth, washable and decorative finish.
III. APPLICATION
1. Substrate preparation:
- Ensure the surface is dry, clean and sound. Remove dust and any loose or flaking paint.
- Repair holes, cavities and spalled areas using DUROCRET or UNICRET or UNICRET-FAST polymer-modified mortars. Smooth exposed concrete surfaces with PLANFIX or PLANFIX-FINE.
- Widen cracks to at least 5 mm and fill them with ISOMASTIC-A elastoplastic sealant.
- Allow repairs to cure and sand if needed. Prime the surface.
2. Priming:
- Apply UNI-PRIMER to stabilise the substrate and improve adhesion. Typical consumption is 100-200 g/m² depending on surface absorption.
- Allow the primer to dry completely.
3. Application of ISOMAT-ACRYL:
- Stir the paint thoroughly. Apply ISOMAT-ACRYL undiluted or dilute it with 5-10% clean water.
- Apply two coats using a brush, roller or spray. Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second.
- Coverage is about 10-12 m² per kilogram per coat.
IV. REMARKS
- Apply at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C.
- Do not apply on frozen or extremely hot surfaces or under strong sun or rain.
- Protect painted surfaces from rain for at least a few hours after application.
- Stir well before use and avoid excessive dilution.
- Wear protective gloves and follow the safety instructions on the packaging.
